My Story

Kay Phongsan

Since childhood, Kay often wondered about the universe and wanted to know what it is and who we truly are. This made him venture into the world of martial arts and science.

Kay learnt karate in Okinawa, which led him to study the art of Taiji (Taichi) in Taiwan and Chiang Mai with Mark Rasmus and Howard Wang. Through this practice, he gained the understanding of energy and internal power, which he was able to incorporate with his spiritual development.  He also later engaged in “Metta Dojo”, which is a form of martial arts that allowed one to gain spiritual attainment by practicing self-defense.

He also began his scientific studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he earned a Ph.D Degree with a research grant in nuclear fusion from the US Department of Energy. He then became a Researcher in a nuclear safety research center in France and a University Lecturer in Engineering. However, he soon realized that even this field of science did not fully explore his original questions, which led him to seek a more direct spiritual and mystical experience, and explore quantum physics.

Through quantum physics, Kay learnt the immense importance of consciousness in the physical realm, a missing link that is rarely studied in science. Therefore, he delved into the topics of spirituality and psychedelic, which proved to have such profound effects on people’s consciousness. For months he lived and trained with respected indigenous healers in the Sacred Valley of Peru, where he was exposed to several spiritual practices, including how to conduct plant medicine ceremonies, which offered emotional healing, insights and a deep connection to a higher intelligence. Through his direct experience with the plant medicine, Kay gained an understanding of the true nature of the universe.

Since then, he and his team have hosted hundreds of plant medicine ceremonies in Thailand (his native land), with the aim to help those who seek healing and those who feel the calling for spiritual growth. He finds fulfillment in this work as he can attest to the effectiveness of the plant medicines on a person’s psyche and spiritual evolution, especially when it is held in a ceremonial setting. Kay also delivers beautiful and powerful chanting during his ceremonies so as to help those who find the experience challenging, and help them navigate their way back in alignment with light and compassion.

Expertise

Shamanic Mushroom

The ancient origins of shamanic mushrooms can be traced back to as early as 10,000 BCE from rock-etched murals of the psychedelic found in Northern Australia. A controversial Stoned Ape Theory developed by a famous ethnobotanist, Terence McKenna, claimed that “the shrooms may have expedited human evolution” by increasing the size of human brains, creating hyperconnectivity between the neuro network, which led to our primitive ancestors achieving heightened levels of consciousness.

Ayahuasca

Ayahuasca, also known as the “Vine of The Soul” (with Aya meaning Soul, and Waska meaning Vine) in the Quecha language, is an herbal tea that is mostly used as a spiritual medicine amongst the indigenous tribes of the Amazon basin in South America. Traditionally, its use was only entrusted to the tribe’s healer, the “Curandero”, as the medicine induces powerful pyscho-active effects that brings about an altered state of consciousness (e.g. hallucinations, out of body experiences and euphoria), which can be frightening for the inexperienced. In this state, the Cuanedro would perform rituals and seek advice from the spirit world to heal various mental, emotional, physical or spiritual ailments of a tribe member.

Bufo Alvarius

The Bufo is fast becoming one of the most loved psychedelic medicines by shamans and psychotropic users as it produces one of the most potent entheogen in existence, known as O-methyl-bufotenin. The substance comes from the Bufo Alvarius, which is a Colorado River Toad, also known as the Sonoran Desert Toad. It is commonly found in North Mexico and in the Southwestern parts of the United States.

San Pedro

San Pedro is a fast-growing cactus native to South America. Its indigenous name is Huachuma or Wachuma, which has been mainly used in healing, spiritual awakenings and religious divination in sacred rituals for thousands of years.

Meet Kay's Extended Team

Dao earnt her Mechanical Engineering degree from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology, North Bangkok. However, upon discovering that her personal interest in science and spirituality are intrinsically connected, she embarked on a special journey to Peru where she gained a heightened level of spiritual awareness through the guidance of the South American tribes. There, she participated in several spiritual activities and also learnt the art in facilitating ancient herbal ceremonies. Dao then recognized the immense benefits these insights could have on humanity. Since then, she and her husband, Kay Phongsan, have facilitated hundreds of plant medicine ceremonies throughout Thailand.

Shalom! My name is Raphael Sun from Australia. I am a facilitator of shamanic medicine (mainly Ayahuasca) and I have been with her now for 8 years. I had spent 3 months in the Amazon Jungle learning from the shipibo natives who have been using ayahuasca for centuries.
I am also a certified teacher in Yoga and Martial Arts.
I look forward to journeying with all of you.

Participants' Feedback

"Every ceremony has been like taking a journey into rooms of my personality that I have never visited. Whether chanting, drinking medicine, or just interacting with others, I have never been more in tune with myself and the universe. Kay and Dao are amazing facilitators that offer feedback through each journey and a safe space to discuss and express the feelings we may be going through, often through reminding the people in the ceremony that they have the support of the whole group. Kirtan gatherings have been an amazing outlet for expression through singing and dancing, which has brought a sense of community into the lives of my wife and I. Having this community flourishing and growing in Chiang Mai feels like the mountains stands taller and the wind blows cooler on the entire land. If you ever get the chance to be a part of any event offered by Kay, Dao, or Seeds of Love, it is guaranteed to be a life changing event."

"I met Kay, Dao, and Koi a year and a half ago at a San Pedro ceremony. It was a time when I first realized how many not answered questions I have in my life, so I decided to work with plant medicine. Since, this time I have done many ceremonies with them like Ayahuasca, Mushrooms, Bufo, and San Pedro. Every ceremony is highly prepared, so I don’t need to worry about the physical safety of my body, I can completely surrender to the process of my healing. I like that they do not mix subjective and objective experiences. The beautiful music in the ceremonies that Kay and Dao play makes the journeys even more magical. If you are considering sitting with plant medicine, I highly recommend Kay and Dao, team. Thank you for creating such a beautiful consensus community. Thank you for all."

"I have taken part in multiple ceremonies under the care of Pi Dao and Pi Kay, including cacao, San Pedro and Ayahuasca. I have also taken part in many of their events including kirtan, sound healing, tai chi, and shamanic breath work. As a direct result of their ceremonies, I have undergone a huge transformation. The ceremonies and events provided a safe place where I could safely explore who I really am, and learn to express myself. As a result of their ceremonies I have been able to reconnect with my emotional body and have learnt to express and release my emotions rather than blocking them, which has greatly enhanced my life. I have also greatly deepened my experience of my own subtle energetic body, as a result of Pi Kay’s guidance in his excellent energy focused martial arts instruction. Whilst lots of the wisdom in the ceremonies comes from the plants, it is absolutely essential that you are able to surrender to the experience, and for that you must fully trust the container and those holding it. I fully trust Pi Kay and Pi Dao, and feel always very supported before, during and after the ceremonies. Aside from the deeply transformative benefits surrounding their intentional work, the ceremonies are always a lot of fun, especially the music circles and kirtan elements. I feel immensely privileged to have worked so closely with Pi Kay and Pi Dao and I look forward to participating in more ceremonies with them! By bringing sacred medicine ceremonies to Thailand they are giving a real gift to all of us and helping to transforming the global consciousness! Thank you for all you do ka"

"Hi I am from Chennai, India. Growing up in a religious, spiritual family and community. I always had my reservations, practicing spirituality out of my community. These amazing people showed me that its not the community's way but the hearts way! I opened so much to many ways of practicing spirituality and understood the deeper meaning of all the practices that I have been doing already. They are like my GPS system continuously showing me a route to my heart space. And I have been travelling with them for a year now, its always a new journey with them and I am in a better space to share my practices with others. Thank you for all the love and making it safe for me to show up every time."

Kay, Dao and Koi's approach to establishing safe settings and professional structure is suitable for both experienced and inexperienced attendees alike. They both have an experienced insight to the medicines they administer and the healing activities included. I have a lot of appreciation for them all, they are incredibly wise and dedicated, using the medicines as spiritually intended."

"My name is Yonel. I have done many plant medicine retreats in the US. While traveling in Southeast Asia, I felt the calling to do it again, and that’s when I came across Kay and decided to try the medicine in Chiang Mai. During the 5-day retreat, I experienced profound healing and understanding, body cleansing, and clarity in many aspects of my life. The retreat center is a super beautiful and peaceful place surrounded by nature. There is plenty of outdoor space to spend some quiet time to integrate the prior day's ceremony or just connect to mother earth. Delicious vegan Indian food was served. I felt tremendous love and care from the facilitators. In my opinion, the medicine was served with integrity and good intention, making me feel safe and making it easier to surrender and let it all go during the ceremonies. The quality of the music was outstanding. Kay is a great musician with an incredible healing voice. The sound of the instruments and the songs were a plus. There was space for integration each day and also other activities like talk sharing and singing circles, sound healing and fire at night. It has been 6 months since that retreat. I have been through many changes and upgrades. I have made moves that were difficult for me or unimaginable. Fears have gone away, I feel more open and secure, closer to my family, and much more. Each ceremony peels away a layer that you don’t need to carry anymore, and over time you feel lighter and lighter and closer to your true essence. I thank Kay, the caretakers, and members of the retreat for creating a safe and loving space for healing. My Blessing..."
